Autism Accreditation

Certified Autism Service Provider

The AAC Autism Accreditation is an internationally recognized, autism-focused quality standard for organizations serving autistic individuals. As the only autism-specific quality assurance program of its kind, it provides a comprehensive framework of support and development to enhance best practices among service providers. Achieving AAC Autism Accreditation demonstrates an organization’s unwavering commitment to understanding autism, implementing evidence-based strategies, and upholding excellence in the delivery of care and support.

By attaining this accreditation, organizations showcase their dedication to inclusivity, respect, and continual improvement, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of autistic children and adults. This accomplishment not only validates the quality of services offered but also sets a benchmark for the entire autism services sector, signaling to clients, families, and stakeholders that accredited providers adhere to the highest standards of practice.

Autism Commission On Quality

Our Autism Commission On Quality (ACQ) is committed to elevating standards of care for autistic individuals by promoting continual improvement, transparency, and accountability across service organizations. Our approach is guided by six core principles:

  1. Quality
We drive meaningful quality improvements through third-party assessments, ensuring that services consistently meet and exceed established benchmarks.
  2. Transparency
We champion transparency by conducting benchmarking activities that encourage accountability, enabling stakeholders to make well-informed decisions about service options.
  3. Best Practice
Our innovative standards support evidence-based clinical pathways, helping providers adopt cutting-edge, results-driven strategies that benefit autistic individuals.
  4. Dissemination
We publish meticulously vetted standards that facilitate knowledge sharing, empowering service organizations to continually refine and enhance their support models.
  5. Feedback Loops
By leveraging ongoing feedback, we address gaps in service delivery and identify areas of excellence, guiding providers toward best practices that promote optimal outcomes.
  6. Stakeholder Education
We ensure that everyone involved—from service providers to families—has access to the knowledge and resources they need, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

Through these principles, the ACQ upholds a rigorous framework that advances the quality of care for autistic individuals, ensuring positive, lasting impact for the entire community.

Accreditation Process

If you are considering certifying your organization through the AAC, please do not hesitate to contact us. Below is an outline of the steps involved in the accreditation journey:

Stage 1: Request for Certification Proposal

  1. Initial Inquiry
You reach out to the AAC with basic information about your organization—its scope, services, and any relevant background.
  2. Tailored Proposal
Using the details you provide, the AAC will develop a personalized proposal that outlines the accreditation scope, timeline, and associated      costs.

Stage 2: Acceptance of the Proposal

  1. Proposal Review
Carefully review the proposal shared by the AAC to ensure it aligns with your organization’s needs and objectives.
  2. Formal Confirmation
Once satisfied, formally accept the proposal to initiate the certification process.

Stage 3: Welcome to the AAC

  1. Introduction & Orientation
The AAC will send you a Welcome Packet that outlines the next steps, key contacts, and essential guidelines.
  2. Process Roadmap
This communication clarifies the accreditation timeline, setting clear milestones for successful completion.

Stage 4: Pre-Audit Self-Assessment

  1. Internal Review
Conduct a thorough self-assessment to evaluate your current practices against AAC accreditation standards.
  2. Gap Analysis
Identify any areas of potential non-compliance or improvement, allowing you to proactively address these issues before the formal audit.

Stage 5: Assignment of Auditing Team & Audit Planning

  1. Meet Your Auditor
The AAC designates an Auditor who will guide you through the audit process.
  2. Scheduling
Coordinate with the Auditor to determine mutually convenient dates and finalize the audit plan.

Stage 6: On-Site or Remote Audit

  1. Opening Meeting
The audit begins with an opening session to confirm objectives, scope, and logistics.
  2. Audit Execution
The Auditor conducts a systematic review of documentation, observes practices, and interviews relevant personnel.
  3. Closing Meeting
Preliminary findings and next steps are discussed, providing your organization with immediate feedback.

Stage 7: Corrective Action Plan (CAP)

  1. Addressing Non-Conformities
Should the audit reveal any non-conformities, you will have an opportunity to devise and implement a Corrective Action Plan.
  2. Extraordinary Visits
In more complex cases, the AAC may schedule follow-up or extraordinary visits to verify that corrective actions have been effectively carried out.

Stage 8: Granting of Certification

  1. Triple Review
    • Auditor Review: The assigned Auditor examines your file, ensuring all requirements and corrective       actions are met.
    • Audit Committee Review: A second, impartial review evaluates the consistency and accuracy of the Auditor’s findings.
    • Certification Committee: Final authorization is granted by the Certification Committee, which holds ultimate authority to issue the certificate.

  1. Certificate Issuance
Upon a successful review, your organization is officially accredited, receiving a formal certificate that recognizes your compliance with AAC standards.

Stage 9: Annual Monitoring & Renewal

  1. Ongoing Compliance
Annual follow-up audits confirm that your organization continues to meet accreditation requirements and maintain best practices.
  2. Three-Year Cycle
Every three years, a Renewal/Recertification Audit is conducted to verify ongoing adherence and support continual improvement.

By following these steps, your organization demonstrates its commitment to high-quality, evidence-based practices that meet the AAC’s internationally recognized standards, ultimately ensuring excellent support and care for individuals on the autism spectrum.
